PS5X Emulator: Xbox Setup, Games & Compatibility
What PS5X is, where to get KytyPS5 for Xbox, and how to check installation requirements, game compatibility, performance, and known limits.
Checked 20 October 2026. PS5X is the name used in Devran Cosmo Uenal’s early demonstration of an experimental Xbox port of KytyPS5. The developer now publishes the project as KytyPS5 for Xbox. Public prerelease packages exist; running the application does not establish that a particular PS5 game is playable. See the developer’s project page and original demonstration.
FreeSimulators documents the project independently. This series is based on developer documentation and published footage; we have not tested the emulator on an Xbox or measured its frame rate.

What PS5X actually does
The Xbox port adapts KytyPS5 to a UWP application and a Direct3D 12 graphics backend. It is a separate execution environment for PS5 software, rather than an addition to Microsoft’s backward compatibility catalog. The desktop and Xbox versions have different graphics paths and constraints. The Xbox README explicitly warns that desktop compatibility does not carry over automatically.
For a prospective user, the useful progression is: the package installs, the library detects a game, that game boots, gameplay works, and a long session remains stable. Each stage needs its own evidence. A cover in a library only establishes that an entry was detected.
Which devices are targeted?
| Device | What the developer’s sources establish |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series X | The port is documented and demonstrated on this console in Developer Mode. |
| Xbox Series S | The release packages target Series X|S. This series has no separate Series S performance measurements. |
| Xbox One, One S, One X | Excluded by the release notes; the application requires AVX2. |
| Windows, Linux, macOS | The upstream desktop project is separate; its packages and results are not Xbox results. |
Device support here follows the initial Xbox release notes and upstream project. An installation target is not a promise about game compatibility or speed.
Can you play PS5 games on Xbox now?
There is a real experimental port and historical footage of Quake II gameplay. That supports a narrow technical demonstration, not a claim that the PS5 library is generally supported. Use our compatibility page to distinguish historical footage, library entries, and missing current-version test results.
You still need suitable game files obtained with permission to use them. The emulator does not supply games, firmware, or decryption keys, and installing it does not make a PS5 disc directly usable in an Xbox.
Is there a public PS5X download?
Yes: the developer links public prereleases from the project. On our check date, the newest listed Xbox tag was xbox-1.1.26292.1807. Use the download guide to identify the Xbox binary package and its dependencies, then follow the installation guide. The tag is a dated reference, not a permanently current version recommendation.
What should you expect from this series?
The installation article covers account activation, package deployment and USB access. The performance article explains what to measure without inventing benchmark results. The troubleshooting article separates deployment errors from game-specific failures.
If you need a particular title, start with its evidence rather than buying equipment on the assumption it will work. If the evidence is missing, the correct status is unverified, not incompatible and not playable.
